It's cherry season in New Zealand at the moment. I couldn't resist trying a new recipe.
Cherries are a family favourite and they make summer all the more special.
They taste heavenly and I just love that gorgeous ruby red colour.
I hadn't baked with cherries before so I chose a simple recipe from Taste of Home.
Made slight changes and opted out of the lemon cream cheese frosting because I wanted a light dessert.
It turned out to be a very soft and moist cake and I think the lemon brings out the flavour of the cherries.
