Sha Elaiza in The Star, Hijabista and on TV!

I was recently interviewed by Kevin Tan from The Star newspaper about my feat of fasting from music during Ramadhan. The article is published in today's print so go get it TODAY! I'm also featured in the August issue of Hijabista magazine for a  fashion shoot called "Beautiful Dancer" along with Shea Rasol from My Amethyst, Eyqa Sulaiman from SugarScarf and Sue Anna Joe from Budu dan Belacan . Although, I should say the skinny jeans I wore in the shoot is not something I would wear in public especially as a hijabi...

Those of you who watch TV 9 might have spotted me in Safiyya's promo for their upcoming episodes. My friends and I will be featured in them with our hijab tutorials but in different episodes. I think my hijab tutorial will be aired on 2nd September 2012. It's a very simple style done with SugarScarf's half moon shawl and inner and my models were Eyqa Sulaiman, the owner of SugarScarf and Lyna Kamal, one of the Scarflets.

I also did another hijab tutorial recording as part of Sunsilk's Clean & Fresh ad campaign. There will be a different hijab tutorial shown every week during the month of Raya / Eid ul-Fitri (yes we celebrate Eid for a month here in Malaysia, lucky us!). I was told my hijab tutorial will be shown on TV 3 and TV 9 during the second week of Raya inshaa Allah. I have to warn you though, I wore an outfit which made me look *fat*. I picked the outfit in a rush but at least I like the colour combination (that's what I say to comfort myself).

YES! I wear braces now. I've been wearing them for about 3 weeks.

Speaking of Eid, have you ladies sorted out your Eid outfits yet?

I haven't. If you're like me... worry not!
FashionValet is holding a pop-up store at their HQ this Sunday 5th August from 12 - 4 PM.
There will be clothes and accessories that are not available on their website at the pop-up store.
Come over, meet me, the lovely newlyweds, Vivy  and Fadza and the FV team this Sunday and treat yourself to something nice.

Love your emerald green shawl. Looks good on you :)

Although I must ask, since u had an experience with shooting for a magazine, is it really compulsory to follow what the stylist asks u to wear? I mean, if the skinny jeans is not something u would wear, they should respect your decision not to wear it.

Not meaning to be negative tho. Just wondering :) Coz most of our Msian artists also gives the "magazine requirements" reason when they dressed up too sexy, its like the media is the one controlling their outfit or something.

Anyway congratulations! :)

@Rahma, thank you =)

@yunayuni, the clothes were sponsored by various designers for the photoshoot... I could've worn harem pants (as I requested but the magazine editor said she didn't have any sponsors). I didn't have time to buy one that would specifically suit the colour scheme of the outfits which the editor chose for us. It was kind of last minute. Maybe the magazine needs to be a bit more careful in the future? Skinny jeans is not exactly very appropriate hijabi-wear (in public).

Thanks anyway!

@A.Zahra, thanks =)

@Ida Ali, aww thank you but I think the make up saved the day lol. I wish I had them earlier but I was always overseas and that made it hard. Although I'm slowly getting used to them I can't wait for the day when I get to take them off! hehe

My skin isn't flawless but ever since I started drinking 4 litres of water a day, I saw the difference in 1 week. It has improved a lot =) Just drink 1 glass every half an hour. But during Ramadhan I can only drink 2 - 2.5 litres, and that is after iftar.

@Haute Muslimah, alhamdulillah thank you!

@MishaiCan, nothing much to be impressed with . Just a few things that came my way this month =) Thanks though!

@Dana Muslimah, Ramadhan Kareem.

@Anon, Kelly is all good =) She was just getting the wrong kind of attention from her videos (e.g. marriage proposals from random guys!) so she's taking a break.

@Magz and Mez, @anon, thank you! lol @ grills. So gangstaa!

hi

nak tanya, u guna braces ni kena cabut gigi ker..
i've been wanting to do that..tapi takut kena cabut gigi...
Shahirah Elaiza said…
@Nawal, aw thanks sis!

@fifi, hahaha, I pun takut cabut gigi but alhamdulillah I didn't have to do any teeth extraction. Mine is very straightforward case. You should consult an ortho and get his/her opinion. Good luck.

Salam Sha.

I have no comments since I've explained.

@Suzi, Wa salaam, and I've explained to YunaYuni as you've explained =) Regardless, we all make mistakes, especially me. For example, sometimes I don't wear hijab the appropriate way (not completely covering the chest) but I would readily admit that it isn't the best way to wear hijab so my readers know they shouldn't follow my footsteps.
